Organic Sesame Oil is a pure, cold-pressed, certified organic sesame oil (Tila Taila) — the cornerstone base oil of Ayurvedic massage and the most highly regarded carrier oil in classical Ayurvedic practice. Described in texts such as Charaka Samhita as the best of all oils (Tailanam Seshamam), sesame oil is classified as Vata-pacifying, deeply warming, and penetrating. It serves as the classical base for the majority of Ayurvedic Thailam preparations and is the primary oil for traditional Abhyanga (full-body warm oil massage).
Key Properties
-
Certified Organic — cold-pressed from organically grown sesame seeds; unrefined to preserve natural fatty acids and vitamin E content
-
Tila Taila (Sesamum indicum) — classical Vata-pacifying base oil; deeply penetrating; naturally warming; rich in oleic and linoleic acids; antioxidant-rich due to sesamol and sesamin content
-
Versatile base — suitable for blending with other Ayurvedic herbs or Thailams, or for use as a standalone massage oil
How to Use
For Abhyanga (self-massage): warm the oil gently in a water bath. Apply generously to the whole body from head to foot using long strokes on limbs and circular movements on joints. Leave on for 15–30 minutes, then shower with warm water. For base oil blending: mix with classical Ayurvedic herbal powders or Thailams as directed by a practitioner. Also suitable as a carrier for Nasya (nasal oil) preparations or Gandusha (oil pulling).
For external use. Though cold-pressed sesame oil is food-grade, when used as a massage oil it is for external application only. Store in a cool, dark place. Best used within 12 months of opening.
